About us
Built on the work, not the pitch.
Maritime Basement Waterproofing is a Nova Scotia waterproofing contractor working across the mainland. We diagnose properly, we install to spec, and we stand behind it for as long as you own the house.
Why this company exists
Basement waterproofing has a reputation problem in this province, and it is largely earned. Homeowners are sold a system before anyone has established what is actually wrong. Weeping tile gets recommended for a wall crack. A crack injection gets sold to someone whose water is coming up through the floor. Cheap crews bed pipe in native soil with no filter fabric, and the system silts closed in five years.
Every one of those is a job that had to be done twice.
We would rather do it once. That starts with a genuine diagnosis: walking the basement and the exterior grade, reading the stains, checking the slab–wall joint, and working out where the water is coming from before recommending anything. It continues with installing the details that decide whether a system lasts: excavating beside a footing rather than under it, wrapping stone in filter fabric, sealing form-tie holes, and running a drain to a real outlet rather than a length of pipe that ends in gravel.
The province decides the problem
Nova Scotia is not one environment. Peninsula Halifax is stone foundations on shallow slate. Hammonds Plains is cut-and-fill over granite. Truro is heavy clay at the head of the Bay of Fundy, where the world’s highest tides meet a river system. Amherst is marine clay on reclaimed marsh. Chester is exposed rock taking Atlantic storms head-on.
Those places need different work. A contractor who quotes the same system from Yarmouth to Antigonish is not accounting for any of it.
The warranty
Our waterproofing work carries a transferable lifetime warranty. If water returns through an area we treated, we come back and make it right at no charge. It stays with the property, so it passes to the next owner when you sell.
That is not a marketing line. It is an accountability structure. a company that has to return for free has every reason to install the system correctly the first time.
